Bridging the Gap for Municipalities
When I took on the challenge of building Lofty’s Bridge Deck Assessment tool, our goal was ambitious: help bridge engineers and drone operators efficiently detect delamination in bridge decks using drones and machine learning. But the path wasn’t straightforward—processing drone sensor data at scale is complex, and our machine learning models needed to be both accurate and practical in the field.
I led a cross-functional team of scientists, engineers, and designers through a process of stitching and processing drone sensor data while building robust machine learning models to detect bridge delamination with precision. We worked closely with our customers to ensure our product wasn’t just raw data: it was a clean user experience that shared hyper-valuable information accessible to multiple stakeholders.
From development to deployment, I drove user interviews, sprint execution, and product strategy, aligning engineering efforts with real-world needs. The result? A powerful, ML-enhanced assessment tool that streamlines inspections, helping engineers make faster, data-driven decisions to maintain critical infrastructure.
